(2012) $3.6 million – MCP/SCP plant improvement (2012) Just received a 3.75 million dollar Bond for plant improvement projects at both plants.
(2011) $150,000 - SCP headwork’s improvement. Made improvements to headwork’s screens and by-pass channel to better handle peak high flows caused by heavy rain events.
(2010 – 2011) $400,000 – MCP/SCP Disinfection upgrades. Replaced 20 year old Sodium Hypochlorite (NaOCl) generators with modern, efficient and dependable generators. Staff installed saving tens of thousands of dollars.
(2010) $300,000 – 3rd Ave. South - District Extension. Several failing septic systems. Health Department had tagged a few of the houses. Approximately 20 homes.
(2009 – 2010) $1.3 million – Pump Station #2 upgrade. Completely new pump station. New wet well, pumps, controls building. Everything new. Needed slightly bigger station due to Evergreen heights and Greenbridge expansion.
(2009) $300,000 - SCP Centrifuge. Improved dewatering from 16% to 22% solids. Handles more gpm. Hauling fewer solids to Eastern Washington due to higher concentration of solids. Added dewatering redundancy.
(2009) $300,000 - MCP Clarifier improvements. Replaced all flights, chains, sprockets and drive motors for two primary clarifiers.
(2008) $1.8 million – ULID 79-P2 in Normandy Park. Approximately 100 new connections. Septic systems were failing.
(2008) $350,000 - SCP odor control improvements. Treatment plant received 6 – 10 odor complaints per year. Zero odor complaints since completion of the project.
(2008 – 2012) $3.3 million - Seahurst Beach Project –Installation of new pump station, replacement of nearly 5000 feet of beach sewer line, piping improvements of an existing pump station. Working with the City of Burien, Army Corps of Engineers, and Department of Ecology & Department of Fisheries on an environmental shoreline improvement project.
(2008 – 2012) - Many Technology improvements in the past several years. GIS; new Accounting/Billing System; Phone System; On-line and over the phone bill pay; Radio Communication System; new Servers, backups and network infostructure; Computerized timesheets/payroll software; Email System
(2007 – 2008) $1.0 million – Pump Station #12 completely rebuilt. Accepts flow from Three Tree Point and pumps to Miller Creek Plant.
(2007 - 2008) $1.5 million - Pump Station #17 elimination (includes new gravity sewer lines to, and along Des Moines Memorial Drive.) Engineered way to gravity wastewater rather than pumping. Pump Station needed to be rebuilt and enlarged. Long term money savings.
(2006 – 2011) $4.6 million - Chelsea Park Project – Replaced over 64,000 feet of old sewer lines and a few hundred stubs in the heart of Burien. Improved treatment plant capacity, hydraulic loading on the sewer collection system and longevity of the sewer pipe.
(2006 – 2008) $3.0 million - Evergreen Heights – Pipe rehab project in White Center. Includes Greenbridge housing and surrounding area.
(2006) $750,000 - Marian’s Park – Pipe rehab project in White Center. Origional sewer pipe was installed the late 1940’s. Replaced more than 3200 feet of pipe.
(2005) $1.7 million – Regal Heights – pipe rehab project in White Center. Difficult project. Origional sewer pipe was installed the early 1950’s. Replaced deteriorated sewer pipes in alleys in the Heart of White Center.
